Anyway, the fact that the ball had a limiting effect on the players ability to be skillful doesn't change the fact that they were less skillful by neccisity. Rare is the sport, hobby, etc that can NOT increase in its all over competitiveness when its had the kind of time, exposure, money, worldwide talent pool, sports technology advances, etc all contributed to its growth. How can the level of skill decreased since this time. It has not.
