I tried it, just where his clip cuts is where I ran into problems. My plastic key was too flimsy to raise the pins, they snagged on the plastic and messed it up. Wonder how he got it in.

I did this years ago but the Arizona heat was too much for it to last longer than an hour, maybe two at most
Id say this wo0uld be most useful as a supplemental mini-system if your current ac is not the best and works less than it should..then this cheapo temporary method will work fine along side it.
For a an entire home, I'll just stick to a solar power setup then use a conventional AC that is already in place.

The liquid nitrogen will evaporate quick though.

Came home and ripped off my 14" lCD monitor. discarded the original lcd screen lamp. re attached the data cable to the LCD screen from the CPU.
I placed the LCD 1 cm high on the OHP top. covered up the open electrical connections and switched it on.
WOW.
last night I attached 8 w speakers. and watched SPARTACUS 9. (whore) once again .
No Sir. it was better than many MM Projectors.

What does that translate to in amps? Well, if you take 3.25 watts / 0.5 volts = 6.5amps which is still way more then what your getting. What are you dumping your amps into? Are you measuring the short circuit amps? Charging into a battery? Amps will vary depending on the load. Also, recheck all solder joints

The cost can be quite economical and the diameter of the fibre can be in mm rather than um. 1mm is very common but you will get a 2.5mm quite easily.
You will get a good 50m without too much light attenuation.
I'd love to see this type of product applied to lighting a home naturally.

well i normaly live in Denmark. And now those optic fiber cables progessed the hole way thru Scandinavia and thru the most of europe soon. So this will all be done and upgraded at the end of 2010 i guess. And at the fall 2011 we will probelay see som laser optics etc , well thats furture for now. But Sweden is using Laser optics for high speed internet Connection like 47Gbit. So everyone will asap get upgraded. =)

@pyromaneak47 I will try doing it over sometime and slide another piece of plastic, like a wedge or something, in ahead of the "key" to raise the pins. I see no reason why this would not work apart from the "getting the key in the lock" part.

@servprosolutions I tried this and gave up trying to put the key in the lock. My plastic was too flimsy so the pins, instead of rising simply messed up the plastic. I did not have the time or inclination to try it further, but the theory is sound, if you can get the plastic to raise the pins.

I don't think this will actually work. They key for one is flimsy, it may not be strong enough to raise the pins, also a key has grooves shaved into the sides etc. My theory is, the key was broke off in the lock and the plastic key is able to slide in as well because its so thin, and the broken key along with the "tension wrench" give it what it needs to turn. Anyone agree?

@WiiToast It's a piece of metal that helps turn the cylinder by going into the key hole a little bit. The key only raises the pins in the lock into place but may be too flimsy to actually turn the cylinder.
